These include changing disease pattern, aging of the population and diseases associated with changes in lifestyle and behavior. With changes in the socio-economic conditions and rapid urbanization, people are increasingly facing the pressure arising from work, studies or family problems. In addition, new infections diseases are emerging. The SARS epidemic inHong Kong demonstrated that the epidemic not only affected the health of the population but also damaged the economy, trade, tourism and the image of the city.

  

The spread of infections disease has no geographical boundaries. Many pubic health problems are international in nature. No country alone will be able to solve theses problems. We need to involve the experts from all over the world to work together in tackling the challenges in public health in the 21st century.
